This is the official portrait of David Ben-Gurion created in celebration of Israel’s 40th Anniversary, May 5th, 1988.Never before in fine art history has anything like this been created — a portrait consisting of the 3500 Hebrew letters of Israel’s Declaration of Independence.
Below the unique calligraphic depiction of David Ben-Gurion, one of the earliest of the founding fathers and the first prime minister of the State of Israel, 136 Israeli and other world leaders personally autographed the original painting as a lasting tribute to the “Old Man.” These include President Ronald Reagan, President Chaim Herzog, Prime Minister Shimon Peres, President George Bush, President Jimmy Carter, President Yitzchak Navon, Mayor Teddy Kollek, Prime Minister Yitzchak Shamir, Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, and many more… whose signatures were faithfully reproduced as part of this serigraph, exactly as they appear on the original painting. This portrait is enshrined at the BEN-GURION MEMORIAL MUSEUM located in the Negev at Sde Boker, Israel.
